What is the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival?

It is a competitive independent film festival and a platform that recognizes independent filmmakers from around the world who integrate the Hispanic culture in their work and exposes the talent of Hispanic actors, directors, producers, screenwriters and cinematographers.

When is the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival (OHFF)?

The Third Orlando Hispanic Film Festival will take place September 16 – 20, 2009 during Hispanic Heritage month.

Why is it so important to focus on independent filmmaking?

Independent filmmaking is a significant medium to communicate new ideas, introduce new techniques and explore new topics that are often times not seen in the mainstream.

Does the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival do anything outside of the Festival?

The OHFF is also committed to providing educational forums and screenings that promote multicultural enrichment and film industry knowledge within the community it serves. For example, OHFF has partnered with the Orange County Library System to host a year round educational program.

Can I get involved with this year’s Festival?

Volunteers are an important part in making the Orlando Hispanic film Festival a success. Our volunteers will enjoy a friendly environment and get a chance to watch films for free. As they gain experience celebrating cinema, volunteers will help out actors, filmmakers, guests and patrons have an exciting film going experience. Dealing with the public will be their strongest quality and working as a team will be their priority. Being responsible and reliable will be their motto which will add in creating a memorable time at the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival. How many categories are there in the Festival?

We have an Official Award Selection Committee, representing the diversity of the Entertainment Professionals in the Orlando area, which will select the films to be awarded and screened during the Festival in the following 12 categories:

- Best Feature
- Best Short Film
- Best Documentary Feature
- Best Short Documentary
- Best Director
- Best Cinematography
- Best Short Animation
- Best Actor Male
- Best Actor Female
- Best Ensemble Cast
- Best 3D Short Animation (new category)
- Audience Award

During the Festival, awards will be presented to top selected films, including the Audience Award where the public actively participates in the selection of the winning film.
