IVON CARDENAS

Volunteer Coordinator

Ivon was born in the United States to Mexican immigrant parents.  Growing up in the border-town of El Paso, Texas, she has embraced and been influenced by both American and Mexican culture in her varied roles in the Arts.  Her earliest experiences included Mexican folkloric dance, (Ballet Folklorico) and acting in community art festivals.

During her years in Texas she developed a passion for the drama of stage and the structure of producing shows for audiences.  She would eagerly perform and assist in many events in her community.  In 2005, Ivon helped establish and co-found a community-based theater company called Center Stage El Paso.  The company helps budding young actors by producing and putting on performances in the community.

Ivon has since moved to Florida to further her entertainment career. She is currently completing her education in Theater and Film Studies at University of Central Florida.  She enjoys learning various aspects of producing and molding stories into films.  During her time at the University, she has helped produce and cast several student films.  She also assisted Ms. Lola De La Vega (a Mexican iconic talk-show host) as a public relations liaison for an international event of historic proportions.

Her most recent project was the 2009 OHFF Production Manager and Casting Director for our commercial to be aired on Univision.  She is happy to be of help to this year’s event as Volunteer Coordinator for our third festival.
